Brazils CS cane crop seen falling to 565 mln T -JOB Economia

Brazilian brokerage JOB Economia said on Monday, the latest forecaster to project lower output for the worlds No. 1 sugar producer.

Brazils center-south cane crush will be 565 million tonnes in the 2014/15 crop year that started on April 1, down 5 percent from 596 million tonnes last season, it said.

Sugar output in Brazils key producing region will be 33.3 million tonnes, down from 34.3 million tonnes in 2013/14.

The estimate was at the low end of industry forecasts, which range between 540 million and 613.3 million tonnes, and is likely to underscore concerns over the potential impact of extreme weather on the countrys crop.

"Theres a lot of uncertainties. We dont know about El Nino. We dont know the quality of the cane in center-south," JOB Economias director Julio Borges said on the sidelines of New York sugar week.

Brazils total cane crush in 2014/15 will be 624 million tonnes, down from 650 million tonnes in 2013/14, producing 37 million tonnes of sugar, down from 37.6 million tonnes in the previous season, he said.
